Gadgeteer
The Gadgeteer is the ultimate problem-solver, relying on intellect, innovation,
and a vast arsenal of high-tech devices. While they may lack innate superpowers, their ability
to adapt to any situation makes them indispensable. Whether they are deploying drones,
hacking security systems, or utilizing experimental weaponry, the Gadgeteer always has the
right tool for the job.
Example Heroes
- Batman (DC Comics) – The iconic “prep-time” hero who uses a utility belt full of specialized gadgets to overcome any foe.
- Cyborg (DC Comics) – Uses integrated technology to adapt his body to the battlefield.
Hit Points
HP: Your HP at each level is equal to
(8 + your Endurance) × your Gadgeteer level.
Gadgeteer benefits
Level 1
- Wits Boost: +1 to your Wits ability.
- Ability Boost: Distribute +2 across your abilities (either +2 to one ability or +1 to two different abilities). Wits cannot be increased this way.
- Skill Training: You gain Apprentice training in Electricity or Hacking (choose one).
- Gadgeteer Talent: You can choose 1 Gadgeteer Talent.

Gadget Tuning: You gain Apprentice competence in
Gadget Tuning (Wits). This special ability is used for all checks made with your gadgets.
Prepared Gadgets
Gadgeteers prepare a limited number of gadgets in advance, representing pre-built devices,
charged modules, and loaded systems.
After a long rest, you may change which gadgets you have prepared,
choosing from any gadgets for which you have blueprints.
Gadget Slots
At level 1, you have the following prepared gadget slots:
- 4 Level 0 gadget slots
- 2 Level 1 gadget slots

Using Gadgets
- Level 0 gadgets can be used any number of times.
- Level 1 or higher gadgets can each be used once before needing to be re-prepared.
Each prepared gadget occupies one slot of its level.
You may prepare the same gadget multiple times in different slots.
For example, you could prepare two different Level 1 gadgets or the same
Level 1 gadget twice, allowing it to be used twice.
Once a leveled gadget is used, its slot is expended and cannot be used again
until after your next long rest.
