Weapons
Weapon Types
Weapons are divided into Melee and Ranged types.
The type determines which ability modifier is applied to attack rolls and damage,
as well as how the weapon interacts with range and mobility.
-
Melee Weapons: Use your Might modifier for attack and damage rolls.
- Attack Roll: Roll 1d20 + Might modifier + other bonuses.
- Damage Roll: Roll the weapon’s damage die and add your Might modifier.
-
Ranged Weapons: Use your Agility modifier for attack and damage rolls.
- Attack Roll: Roll 1d20 + Agility modifier + other bonuses.
- Damage Roll: Roll the weapon’s damage die and add your Agility modifier.
Traits can override these calculations, for example with Finesse melee weapons you can attack using Agility:
Weapon Traits
Range
The Range of a weapon indicates the distance it can effectively reach.
Only Ranged weapons have a range value.
- Attacking a target within the weapon’s first range increment is unmodified.
- For each additional range increment beyond the first, you take a –5 penalty to the attack roll.
Example:
A short bow has a range of 30 feet.
- First 30 feet → no penalty
- 31–60 feet → –5 to attack
- 61–90 feet → –10 to attack
- 91-120 feet → –15 to attack
- 121–150 feet → –20 to attack (maximum penalty; attacks cannot go beyond this range)
Hands
The Hands value indicates how many hands are required to wield the weapon properly.
- 1 Hand: Can be wielded with one hand
- 2 Hands: Requires two hands to attack normally
If you attempt to wield a weapon with fewer hands than required,
apply a –5 penalty to attack rolls.
Energy Cost
Each weapon attack requires a certain amount of energy.
This is listed as Energy Cost to Attack.
