Critical Hit
A Critical Hit represents a strike of exceptional quality—finding a gap in armor, hitting a vital organ, or delivering overwhelming kinetic force.
Extreme Success
In Singularity, a hit becomes a Critical Hit if the attack result is an Extreme Success. This is achieved in one of two ways:
-
The Threshold: Your total attack result is 10 or more than the target's Armor Class (AC).
-
The Natural 20: If your attack is already a success, rolling a Natural 20 on the d20 increases the success by one step (turning a standard Success into an Extreme Success).
Effect
When you score a Critical Hit, you double the total damage dealt by the attack (including all modifiers).
Example: A hero attacks an enemy with
AC 15.
- If they roll a total of 25, it is an Extreme Success (Threshold).
- If they roll a total of 16 but the d20 shows a 20, the success steps up to an Extreme Success (Natural 20).
In both cases, damage is doubled.
