Repeated Attack Penalty (RAP)
Trigger
The Repeated Attack Penalty is triggered when a character uses the same attack source more than once in a single turn.
“Attack source” refers to any specific weapon, spell, or ability used to deal damage (e.g., a sword swing, a gun shot, or a blast spell).
Penalty Progression
The penalty accumulates for each subsequent use of the same source:
- 1st repeated use: –5 penalty
- 2nd repeated use: –10 penalty
- 3rd repeated use: –15 penalty
- 4th repeated use: –20 penalty
Notes
- The penalty applies to the attack roll or the Difficulty Class (DC) of the repeated use.
- The penalty does not reset within the same turn. Even if you take other actions between uses of that source, the penalty continues to climb.
- The penalty resets completely at the start of your next turn.
